July 2007 - Our Project for the month of July was working with the One Hundred Men of Shreveport Organization. The members of One Hundred Men of Shreveport are successful men who were willing to join together to expose young black males to positive influences and environments. These members agreed to take fifty disadvantaged youth and engage in activities that would be fun as well as educational. These activities would promote a positive impact on the lives of the mentors as well as the youth. They agreed on outings such as camping, fishing, movies, Six Flags, ball games, bowling, etc. To further help in developing relationships with these youth, we listened to their problems and their concerns and provided assistance to them in every possible aspect of their lives. Some of these teenagers have never been to a movie, and some have never been to a restaurant. We sponsored and helped out One Hundred Men of Shreveport take out a group to lunch and a movie, at the Applebee's restaurant and Cinemark Tinseltown Theater on Bert Kouns Ave. The movie that they saw was Tranformers. The day was a huge success. The kids really enjoyed themselves and were very appreciative. Thanks to Gerald Adams for heading up this project.
